Head Start

The Head Start Program is funded by the federal government.  Enrollment is based on income, family need, and availability.  

  • Child must be 3 or 4 years old by  September 1. 
  • Eligibility is based on household size and income.

  • Enrollment is prioritized based on income eligibility and other qualifying factors; families with special needs or foster children are encouraged to apply.

Families must meet federal income guidelines (100% federal poverty level.)  Children may be enrolled whose families are over income when there are additional risk factors. Ten percent of our slots for children are reserved for children with diagnosed disabilities.

Head Start classes have 16 children, one certified Early Childhood Teacher, and an Assistant Teacher.

Great Start Readiness Program

The Great Start Readiness Program is funded by the State of Michigan. 

  • Child must be 4 years old by December 1.
  • Programs enroll children born by 9/1 first, then if there are spots, they will enroll children born by 12/1.
  • Eligibility is based on household size and income.
